# Confluence Connector

> Learn about our Confluence connector.

As mentioned in the Data-Synchronisation article, the setup of data system in Genow is being done in two steps. For the Confluence connector this means:

**1. Select and connect your system**

You will need the following things to set up and connect Confluence:

* Authentication type: choose between Token Authentication or Basic Authentication
* Server URL: the URL of your Confluence instance (e.g., [https://company.atlassian.net/wiki](https://company.atlassian.net/wiki))
* API Token
* User: the e-mail of the user associated with the API token. This is only required when you use Basic Authentication.

**2. Select your scope**

For this step a **CQL statement** is needed. They mostly consits of three parts:

1. Field: The item you want to search for (e.g., space, title, type).
2. Operator: How to compare (e.g., =, \~ for "contains").\\
3. Value: The term you're looking for (e.g., "Meeting Notes").

Example: space = ABC AND type = page

The CQL statement is optional. If you leave it empty, all supported content is synchronized.\
You can extract your CQL statement after setting the filters from your url.

We support attachments and images.

> If you are using a customized Confluence system that differs from the standard, we recommend planning in a testing period before the rollout.

Before the setup please identify relevant custom fields. Custom extensions of Confluence can sometimes cause problems. Please contact us if this is the case.
